In 2019, the mass production capacity of displays below P0.9 is still relatively limited. On the one hand, the market demand is relatively limited, and the supporting capacity of the industrial chain is also insufficient.
By 2021, with the advancement of packaging technology, the improvement of efficiency, and the rapid cost reduction of LED chips, etc., the demand for products below P1.0 will gradually become a popular market, and Mini LED products will also penetrate the high-end market to the mid-to-high-end market, from professional display to the commercial display and then to the civilian field, it has changed step by step.
By 2022, in terms of packaging form, whether it is COB, four-in-one, or two-in-one, it is not a problem for the supply of P0.9mm diode devices, and both production capacity and yield can be guaranteed.
However, due to price factors, from the current small-pitch market, the product market of P0.9 is still relatively concentrated in some conferences, command and monitoring room projects of the government or large state-owned enterprises, and P1.2-P1.5 are still the mainstream of the small-pitch market. .
But this situation is improving, and the application scenarios of P0.9 Mini direct display products are constantly expanding.
The pitch around P0.7 LED display will become the mainstream of the next generation.
P0.7mm can get 4K resolution for 100-200 inches screen
The size between 100-200 inches is a new huge potential application market for small-pitch displays.
Because the market above 200 inches is already occupied by traditional P1.2~2.5mm small-pitch LED displays, and the slightly smaller size is mainly 98-inch LCD TV products, the current minimum price is less than 3,000 USD, and the display effect is also relatively good. The fine pitch LED display is difficult to compete with LCD in 98-inch market.
However, the display size of the LCD screen is difficult to break through the 100-inch limit. The traditional competitors for 100-200-inch displays are mainly projection displays—however, fine-pitch LED large screens have better visual performance under brighter “light conditions.”
Most of the 100-200-inch markets include conference rooms, commercial, advertising, and other scenarios, which require better lighting conditions.
And in the 100-200 inch market, small-pitch LED displays also face the need to compare PPI resolution with LCD displays.
Because the 100-200-inch application corresponds to the nearest viewing distance of 3-7 meters, or even closer viewing distance. The closer viewing distance ensures the picture quality effect, but also requires “higher PPI resolution”, that is, requires a smaller pixel pitch.
Simply put, 75-98-inch LCDs have already achieved 4K resolution; the resolution of 100+ high-definition LED screens cannot be too bad.
The P0.7 indicator can provide 4K resolution on a 120-inch+, which is exactly the resolution of the current mainstream audio-visual applications and is larger than a 98-inch LCD.
In this regard, an analogy is that the current pixel pitch of mainstream LCD TVs is between 0.3 and 0.57 mm. It can be seen that the small-pitch LED screen spacing of P0.7 mm can better connect the application experience of LCD monitors, and provide differentiated products in larger sizes of 100-200 inches.

But the development of P0.7 100-200 inch display market needs better prices now. In this regard, small-pitch LEDs are increasingly achieving results through continuous accumulation of experience and gradual product process improvement. Especially in the past three years, P0.9 products have achieved a certain success in the high-end market, and the price has dropped by about 30%. Industry analysts believe that P0.7 products are expected to be at the same price as earlier P0.9 products.
The industry expects that in the next two years, the upstream industry chain of LED displays including mini LED chips, etc., will be greatly improved, and the level of product technology and manufacturing process will also be significantly improved. The industry market is facing a round Possibility of price reduction. This is also a “favorable time” for the layout of a new generation of “P0.7 pitch” products.
The 100-200-inch application is a typical “new scenario” that tests industry technology and cost control.

What are the challenges of P0.7 pitch display?
The first is cost. But it is not the biggest challenge.
This is because the P0.7mm must be a high-end display, and it is those customers who demand performance as the priority. This is just like any generation of small-pitch LED products that are “cut into the high-end market” and quickly gain market recognition. From the perspective of cost, it is not very difficult for P0.7 displays to start expanding in the high-end market at the beginning.
Unmature production technology
Compared with P1.0, the number of components per unit display area of P0.7 is doubled. However, although it is possible to inherit the technical experience accumulated by the previous P0.9-P1.0 products, it also requires new challenges to unknown difficulties. The industry is still in the early stage of mature technology to truly efficiently manufacture P0.7mm display products.
Slight different pitch, no standard
In addition to cost and production process technical challenges, another challenge for P0.7 products is that spacing is difficult to standardize.
The 100-200-inch application is often an “all-in-one screen” rather than a splicing project, which means that LED large-screen companies need to find the most conventional “application size requirements” and combine them with technical capabilities to form something similar to: 4K resolution , 120 inches, 150 inches, 180 inches, 200 inches and other fixed unit sizes, but the pixel pitch density is different.
As a result, the seemingly similar 110/120/130-inch units need to use a “dynamically adjustable process technology structure” that fluctuates with the P0.7 pitch standard.
Facing direct competition from traditional commercial LCD or projection suppliers
In addition, in the micro-pitch LED display market between 100-200 inches, small-pitch LED screen companies also need to face the challenges of competition from companies that use traditional LCD commercial large screens as their products.
In the previous small-pitch LED market, LED large-screen companies competed with their peers, but now they need to expand the scope of competition to almost the entire commercial display market.
